In the Shelter of Your Wings

I wrote this praise and worship song, altogether inspired by Psalm chapter 61, a song of David. No one knows what music he put his lyrics to, but this is my attempt at doing his words justice in my humble way.

Here is the text of Psalm 61:

Hear my cry, O God;
listen to my prayer.
From the ends of the earth I call to you,
I call as my heart grows faint;
lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
For you have been my refuge,
a strong tower against the foe.
I long to dwell in your tent forever
and take refuge in the shelter of your wings.
For you, God, have heard my vows;
you have given me the heritage of those who fear your name.
Increase the days of the king’s life,
his years for many generations.
May he be enthroned in God’s presence forever;
appoint your love and faithfulness to protect him.
Then I will ever sing in praise of your name
and fulfill my vows day after day.
I hope this song inspires and blesses you, as the message of prayer, protection and perpetual blessing of posterity inspires me. Remember that our God hears you, leads you, is your rock, your strong tower, and gives you shelter under His wings.
Please share this with whomever you think needs hope, encouragement, healing, protection and perseverance, a reminder of our Lord's love and faithfulness.

[Verse 1]
We are gathered in the waiting
Empty hands
But hearts awake
Every burden laid
In the curse You break
You see the hidden
Every tear that hasn’t dried
You hear the whisper
Underneath our restless minds

[Chorus]
Hear our cry (O God)
Listen to our prayer
Cover every whisper
Our humble plea laid bare
From the ends of the earth (we call)
Lead us to the Rock that’s higher
For You have been our refuge
Strong tower against the liar
We long to be dwelling
In Your house that brings
A mighty refuge
In the shelter of Your wings

[Verse 2]
We are Your children (dust on our knees)
Waiting in silence (holding onto peace)
You know the stories
Names and scars
You keep a vigil
Closer than the stars

[Chorus]
Hear our cry (O God)
Listen to our hearts
Defender when we’re weak
Let us never be apart
From the ends of the earth (we call)
Lead us to the Rock that’s higher
For You have heard our vows
Given us a heritage
Through generations (may they grow)
In Your presence we’ll sing
And take refuge (hey!)
In the shelter of Your wings (oh!)

[Bridge]
If You are for us
Who can stand against?
You, our refuge (righteous)
When we’re waiting
Teach our souls to rest
In You
In You, Lord
We are blessed!

[Chorus]
Hear our cry, O God
Listen to our soul
Appoint Your love and faith
From broken make us whole
From the ends of the earth (we call)
Lead us to the Rock that’s higher (oh!)
For we will ever sing in praise
Of Your Holy name
And repeat our faithful phrase
Your vows fulfilled that bring
A fearless refuge
In the shelter of Your wings

[Outro]
Hear our cry, O God
We long to dwell (dwell)
In Your house forever
And take refuge (refuge)
In the shelter of Your wings
Yes, Jesus
We’ll take refuge
In the shelter of Your wings
O God (O God)
Take refuge (refuge)
In the shelter of Your wings
(In the shelter)
Of Your wings

New Creation Rising In You

I wrote this praise song, inspired by 2 Corinthians chapter 5. I hope it inspires and blesses you, as the message of hope and reconciliation in Christ Jesus inspires and blesses me.

Please share it with whomever you think needs inspiration and encouragement. Share it with the broken, the tired, the ones who lost their fire. Let them lift their eyes. Their help is here. Grace is stronger than their fear.

I designed the album art to reflect the recent liberation of 46 million Persian women from the bonds of religious persecution, subjugation and tyranny.

To God be all the glory.

Lyrics:
[Verse 1]
I was the shadow in my own drama
No peace, only trauma
Heart like a room with a locked door
Hopes and dreams spread on the floor
You found me staring at the ceiling
Whispered my name in the quiet
Pulled all the pieces I was hiding
Held every shard to Your light

[Chorus]
You make all things new
Every crack
Every bruise
Every burned-out room
You breathe life into
The ashes
All the ruins I walked through
I am not my shame (I am held)
I am held
I am healed in Your perfect name
Jesus
I am new
New creation rising in You

[Verse 2]
Some days the memories still haunt me
Old ghosts knocking at my door
But You keep your hands cradled
Right where my fear outpours
You write Your promise on my heart
Stronger than the storms I feel
You say
“Child, I will not leave you
What I have spoken
I’ll fulfill” (hey)

[Chorus]
You make all things new (every scar)
Every scar
Every pain
Every occupied tomb
You breathe light into
What was dim
All the ruins I walked through
I’m not the voices in my head
I am not the words I never said
Jesus
I am new
New creation rising in You

[Bridge]
To the broken
To the tired
To the one who lost their fire
Lift your eyes
Your Help is here
Grace is stronger than your fear
To the doubting
To the hurting
To the one who thinks they’re worthless
Hear Him say
“I died for you
Walk out of your grave
Be new” (oh-oh-oh)

[Chorus]
You make all things new (every wound)
Every wound
Every strain
Every tortured soul
You turn death
Into life!
All the ruins I walked through
I am not my shame (I am held)
I am held
I am healed in Your perfect name
Jesus (Jesus)
I am new (I am new)
New creation rising in You!

[Outro]
New creation rising
From the dark into Your Truth
Every breath a hallelujah!
Jesus (Jesus)
I am new (I am new)
New creation (new creation)
Rising in You
Yes, Lord
I am new
New creation
Rising in You (You)
